Today is my 10th wedding anniversary, but I have to sneak in some blog time this morning. What commitment!
This installment is a movie review of a full length documentary available for free on the internet. The World According To Monsanto may have been the scariest movie I have ever seen.
Where to start with these guys?I have seen plenty of books and read tons of books on the behind the scenes shenanigans of the powers that be, but this movie grabbed me in a way no other had. Monsanto wants to own the patent to every vegetable, fruit and herb you eat. Think about that. Think about how powerful a company would hve to be to get away with a plan like that, and then realize that they have mostly accomplished this, without most Americans having ever heard of them.
Maybe the most troubling of all are the teams of initimidators Monsanto hires to make sure farmers don’t “infringe upon their patent” and save their seeds. Or is it the utter complacency of the Food and Drug Administration, the people who are supposed to be regulating them? It is a close call, but the French lady who put this film together did a very good job of giving an overview of a company and a problem with a global reach.
This is another movie that I consider to be essential viewing for people who want to reclaim their sovereignty.
Love to all,
Millard
